Nesting parameters to set the minimum and maximum size, area and thickness range for offcuts to be considered for an automatic storage system
This feature is available when the SC and NE modules.
Set the checkbox 'Create automatic offcuts' to enable this group of parameters. If this is left unchecked (the default), all offcuts are considered to be manual.
These values define the minimum size and thickness range for an offcut to be stored in the automatic storage racks. If an offcut does not satisfy one of the parameters, it is considered to be a manual offcut.
- Enter values for the minimum and maximum length and width.
- Enter values for the minimum and maximum area
- Enter values for minimum and maximum thickness
For metric area use square metres, for Imperial area (feet and inches) square feet.
During optimisation, 'automatic' offcuts are created for waste areas in patterns that obey the minimum offcut and automatic storage parameters. These offcuts are marked with an 'A' in the board type field.
Automatic offcut fields on Review runs summaries
Automatic offcut fields may be selected for the following Review runs summaries:

Av Auto offcut
The “Av Auto offcut” field is the percentage of the overall material area that becomes offcuts for automatic storage. The other new fields in this summary refer to the automatic offcuts being used.
Management summary
When automatic offcuts are either created or used in a run an additional set of lines is appended to this summary to give a breakdown of the creation and usage of manual (‘X’) and automatic (‘A’) offcuts.
Offcut summary
Type
The Type field is shown as Manual ('X') or Automatic ('A').
Import and export of offcut type
Offcut type is exported to (and imported from) Pattern exchange and BDX format. The ‘board’ type field for offcuts in these formats may contain the following values.
0 = stock board
1 = offcut
2 = automatic offcut
Similarly, importing board / offcut data from Homag Automation SQL database ensures that offcuts held in automatic storage are imported as type 'A'.
Notes
- Can also be set as a material parameter at both board and material level
- The default settings for these parameters are (millimetres) : 9999,9999,0. This ensures that if the parameters are not set no offcuts are produced.
