This part of System check gives the information relating to the Windows PC the software is installed on. Against each item there is a visual indicator of whether it is OK or not for running the program
If an item shows
the item is Ok for running the program
If an
item shows
check the item as it may be a problem
The operating system, processor, memory and hard drive space is all checked along with showing the display adaptor that the program will use.
At the bottom of the dialog there are buttons to display further information. These are "Network Drives" which will show any mapped network drives attached to the PC. There is also a button "History Folder" this shows you the folder that the program uses to store details concerning the setup of the program such as view settings, recent files etc. As well as showing the folders location the program also checks that the users has the correct permissions to access this folder. If System check is started from within the main menu of the program then there will also be a "Paths" button that shows all of the paths used from the current User Directory selected.
The Paths dialog has a "Show sizes" button. When selected, the program examines all of the paths currently displayed to identify the number of files in each path and the combined size of these in MB. These values are displayed for each path and totalled at the bottom.
The sizes and file counts may be used as a guide to how long it may take to create a backup of the current user profile and an indication of the backup size.
Notes
- Paths dialog (show sizes):
- Duplicated paths are indicated in brackets and are excluded from the totals.
- Backup / archive paths are also indicated in brackets and are excluded from the totals.
- Backup files (.bkp) are a compressed format and will typically be less than the size indicated.
