Parameter values that change with type of material or board size
The value of a parameter can change for different materials. For example, saw speed may be faster for 15mm (9/16in) material than for 25mm (1in) material.
Material Material code Forward Saw speed
15mm MFC MFC15 40 m/s
25mm MFC MFC25 25 m/s
In the above example where each material is the same type (MFC) all the other parameter values may be the same and it would be tedious to have to set up one list of saw parameters for 15mm MFC and another for 25mm MFC. To avoid this problem define an extra set of parameters, called Material parameters. These are a selection of parameters from the Optimising, Saw, and Nesting parameter lists that are most likely to change with material.
Use the Board library field: Parameters to set a material parameter list against a material. Typically this is set at the material level but occasionally a different material parameter list is needed for different board sizes. If a parameter list is set against a material or board size the values in the material parameter list override any other values when optimising.
How to create a set of material parameters
At the main screen:-
● Select: Material parameters
A list of existing parameter files is shown.
● Select: New
The program moves to the Materials parameter screen.
The parameters are split into several tabbed sections but every box is greyed out. This is to prevent an accidental change to the parameters.
● Select the Overrides button
Check
a parameter to allow the box at the parameter screen.
Move to any other tabs and follow the same procedure to select the required parameters to allow.
● Select OK
The program returns to the parameters tab and the selected boxes for trims are now available
● Set the values required
Each parameter operates in the same way as the same parameters in the Optimising, Saw, and Nesting parameter lists.
● Select OK to finish
The program prompts for a file name and description.
The file name must match the material code (in the Board library) for the material the parameters apply to.
Limiting material parameter changes
The program works via the 'overrides' method to limit the number of material parameters that can be changed. Typically the number of parameters that change with material in any particular situation are limited and it is important not to accidentally set a parameter that is not required.
How to determine that material parameters are used for a run
If a run has been produced with the material parameters set this is shown on the summaries and patterns in Review runs with a ? symbol preceding the optimising and saw parameter names in the line showing the file names (towards the top of each report).
00001/TEST/TEST/?STANDARD/?SINGLE/5
The material parameter names are also shown on the Material summary.
Notes
- Material parameters on the Nested tab only apply at the Material level, that is, they have no effect if the material parameter list name is entered in the Board library against each Board size.
