Minimum size of first cut

Saw parameter to set limits on the first cut

Set the minimum size for taking first cut on the board

On many saws it is difficult to cut very narrow strips or take small trims at the front of the board or part because they are difficult to clamp. In the above example extra waste is included at the rear of the board so the parameter is obeyed.

On some saws or for some materials it is necessary to avoid placing narrow strips at the front of the board as they may bow out of shape as the tension in the material is released on cutting. In the above example the narrow strips are moved to the front of the board so this parameter is satisfied. The program arranges strips or leaves sufficient waste to ensure that at least the amount of material set by this parameter is left at the front.
