Saw parameter to allow extra time for head cuts
Extra time associated with taking a head cut. This applies only to single saws. The head cut time is a function of the actual time for taking the head cut(s) plus any extra time needed for the additional operations related to taking a head cut. The actual time for taking the cuts is similar for all saw types and is automatically calculated by the program but the extra time allowed varies with the saw model. The distinction between the actual time and extra time is as follows:-
Staggered Head - The head cut is A and the time for the actual cut is calculated by the program.
Checkerboard Head - The head cuts are across the board width. The times for each actual cut are calculated by the program.
Once the board is in position for the head cut the head cut and crosscuts in a checkerboard pattern are made without a break. This implies that there is always room for the head section or strips to be cleared, and that for example, the saw would not cut X, and Y, and pause due to manual intervention before making cut Z. The extra time per cycle is the time required to:-
Front Loading
- Drawback book ready for cutting
- Turn and clear head portion from front of saw
- Push Main section to front of saw after head cut
- Turn main portion
Rear Loading
- Transfer book through to front of Saw
- Turn book - Drawback book ready for cutting
- Turn and clear head portion from front of saw
- Push Main section to front of saw after head cut
- Turn main portion
If there is a double head cut do not include an additional time for this because the program deals with this automatically.
If you have an angular saw this parameter is not used for estimating the extra time associated with the head cut and the value of the parameter is ignored. The extra time for head cut is instead assessed from the following parameters:-
- Extra time for outfeed and waste drop rip, head ...
- Transfer time from rip saw to intermediate table ...
- Cross transfer time ...
- Time for return transfer of main back to rip saw ...
Faster operation with small books - for this option enter the values for faster times at tab: Speeds and Times 2
