Discount code for a customer
The discount code is a single letter or number.
Use the CUSTOMER DATABASE screen to enter or change a code for a customer.
To view a discount code at the ORDER ENTRY screen choose the TOTALS button.
The order entry program uses this code and the discount table to determine a discount for a customer. This may be on a per item basis if you are using the Price list method of pricing or an overall discount for an order if you are using the cost plus method.
For example, to put customers into one of 3 discount bands. A B or C. enter the appropriate code (A B or C) in this field for each customer.
Set up the DISCOUNT TABLE to associate this discount code with an actual discount. Note - a product and customer discount code can be combined in the discount table.
Working in this way makes it easier to change the discount bands because only the table has to be changed rather than change all the records in the customer database.
