Explanation of some terms for destacking

These terms can cause some confusion especially when using the destacking options.

The diagram shows a BOOK of BOARDS (or sheets) which is divided into several BOOKS of PARTS. The marker rod shows the MAXIMUM BOOK HEIGHT (in this case 4 boards) and the book of boards is equal to the maximum book height.

The maximum book height is determined by the cutting height of the SAW for each material.

The BOOKS of PARTS are transferred to a destacking station (automatic or manual) and the resulting collection of parts is referred to as a STACK of PARTS. The MAXIMUM STACK HEIGHT is shown by the larger maker rod, in this case 8 parts.

The maximum stack height is determined by the destacking machinery or the safety limits in force for each material.

The DESTACKING ARRANGEMENT (also called the DESTACKING PICTURE or LAYOUT) for the STACK OF PARTS is in this case 2 x 1.
