Cannot update table

Occurs for Board library when changing a material or board record

The change(s) cannot be made for the following reasons:-

Conflict between users accessing the same database

This error may occur where two users are accessing the same database. For example, the record (row) that has just been changed on-screen is already in use by another user. They may also attempt to edit the row and there is a potential conflict between the changes.

The changes made cannot be updated because even if the other users finishes there is still a possibility that the changes may conflict.

Link to an external database

A change to the board library cannot be made because the library is linked to an external database and the external database is not available.

The error message may include some extra information from the database, for example, 'SQL server does not exist or access denied'. Perhaps the server is down or the link is not set up correctly or there is a security/permissions problem.

Changes may be lost

In the above cases any changes made on screen are lost on exit from the library. The options are:-

Yes - abandon the changes straightaway (this only applies to one row at a time)

or

No -  leave changes on screen and then copy and paste the row to the clipboard or a program like NotePad

It is best to re-check the data (once the other user has finished or the link has been restored) before repeating the changes or copying the changed data back in to the record.

Notes

- The error may be repeated several times as the program attempts to update different sections of the record.

- In some cases the changes stay on screen even if they are abandoned
