May occur when optimising with a restriction on the number of open parts in patterns
Restrictions are set by the Optimising parameters: Max open parts and Max different boards
If, for example, the Optimising parameter: Max Open parts is set to a low value, e.g. 2 and neither of the available board sizes can fulfil all the cutting requirements then the limit on open parts may restrict the use of the boards so that a solution cannot be found.
The following part list and board list, with Max open parts set to 2 and Board limit field set as zero for each board size, illustrates this problem.
Optimising parameter: Max open parts = 2
Cutting list
Item Size Quantity
Part 1 650 x 350 250
Part 2 1100 x 650 200
Part 3 940 x 460 150
Part 4 870 x 725 300
Board list
Item Size Quantity Limit
Board 1 2440 x 1220 40 0
Board 2 3050 X 1200 180 0
Only two part sizes can be allocated to each board size and both board sizes have to be used so the low Max open parts restriction can cause a problem.
No results (patterns) are produced if this error occurs
Check the parameter settings and board quantities.
Often a small increase in Max open parts avoids this problem or change the 'Limits' field settings for the boards to allow the optimisers to exceed the stock quantity.
Note - it is not always easy to reproduce this error as it depends on exactly how the optimisers attempt to deal with the Max open parts setting for each part list.
