Action not successful - master part name too long

May occur when optimising with grain matching

If the template (from the pattern library) used for grain matching is set with the Name format: Run / number this typically means that the name (Description) of the master part in the cutting list (after optimisation) has the format, for example:-

10003/01

10003/02

However, if the system is also set to operate so that the run 'number' is based on the part list name then the name of the master part in the cutting list has the format, for example:-

MyPartList/01

MyPartList/02

This creates a problem if the part list name is fairly long because the Description field in the part list / cutting list has a maximum value of 50 characters - so the master part names cannot be created correctly during optimisation. For example:-

MyPartListJobForWeekEnding27/01

MyPartListJobForWeekEnding27/02

These names are too long.

In practice the maximum file name is 20 characters - this allows for the trailing number.

If this problem occurs this error is reported and the optimisation does not proceed.

Use shorter names for the part list(s) involved or change the settings in the template.

The parameters to check are:-

- Pattern Library (for each template involved): File - Properties - Name format

- System parameters
