Edge code

Unique reference for edging material / process

To enter a code locate the empty row at the bottom of the Grid marked by the * symbol.

If there are already several items in the grid page down to the bottom of the Grid to see the empty row

Each code (or line in the edging library) refers to a unique material AND edging process.

For example a laminate material may be used both for laminate strips and for postform edges. This is two separate entries in the edging library.

Code        Description              Material       Gr  Fn  Thk

TEAK-LAM-A  Teak laminate strips     TEAK-LAM-1MM   Y    3  1.0

TEAK-LAM-B  Teak laminate postform   TEAK-LAM-1MM   Y    4  1.0

Note - both edging entries use the same material and this is the material code in the Board library. Separate entries are needed because the amount of laminate required when the edging is applied is calculated differently as the processes are different.

For linear tape these complications may not arise and there may be no need for a material code as the tape is not stored in the Board library.

Code        Description              Material      Gr  Fn  Thk

WH-TAPE     White tape                              N   1  1.0

The library is always in alphabetical order based on the edging code

Restrictions on Edging codes - An edging code cannot begin with a SPACE character - the first press of this key at each box is used to copy the information from the line above.

Edging codes cannot contain spaces other than spaces at the end of the code. For example:-

NOT OK         OK

MEL 14      MEL/14

EDWH 123    EDWH-123

This is a different way of specifying edging codes - it can be useful for colors or finishes as it reduces the number of codes needed in the library
