Warnings and error messages from the program
If a problem occurs this is typically reported as an Error message on-screen
When working with part lists, runs and batches etc. problems are often caused by missing or wrong data. In these cases the start of the message indicates the type of problem and the rest of the message describes the missing data:-
Message Description
Data not correct - No boards PX2
Item not found - Material Run 00004. 1. PR/1
In many cases it is clear what the problem is and it can easily be corrected - especially if the error is caused by mistakes in data entry or with missing data or set up information.
More help on an Error
In some cases the cause of an error may be less clear
• Most Error messages have a link or button to the relevant error topic - click on this for more details
or
• Use the Search option in Help to locate the Error message
- To search for a Phrase like: Data not correct - No boards enclose the phrase in quotes: "Data not correct - No boards"
- There is a topic for each error message and each topic gives further information about the error. Each error also has a fixed number e.g. 32101. This is usually shown in the error message and in the Help topic for that error. In some cases the error text on screen and the text of the message in the Help may be slightly different so if the topic is not found search for the Error number.
- Some errors messages can have several different causes - check the topic carefully to identify the correct cause.
After the error message
Where the error is advisory the program may continue to complete the operation - in this case check the results carefully as a problem was reported.
In most cases the error prevents the operation and the program moves back to the previous screen where you can take action to correct the problem. For example, many messages during optimising return to the batch screen to check / change the batch options.
Where the problem is easily identified such as missing data the program moves back to the data source, for example, to the part list or board list.
Problems caused by setup
Some options and ways of working (for example, Destacking) require several different steps for set up, where specific system parameters have to be set, extra information boxes may be needed, and saw and optimising parameters may have to be set.
If the set up is not complete or accurate this may often cause an error, check the relevant Overview and Setup topics carefully and make sure that all the steps are completed.
These topics are usually located in the Contents pane as the first or second topic in each section or Book.
Program faults
There are sometimes faults caused by a bug in the Program. Often these are related to specific sets of data or a setup problem. Check with the supplier.
