Back-up - Overview

Make a copy of user data and settings

All data produced should be backed up on a regular (daily) basis. To do this make sure all directories (folders) and sub-directories used by the program are included in a regular system back-up. The directories/folders to include are:-

- Directory/Folder where the program is installed and ALL sub-directories

- Each user profile and ALL sub-directories

- Directories containing Library data

In many companies (especially those working with Networks) a general back up process is already part of the system but make sure the drives and directories where the program is installed and data is stored are included in the general back-up process.

In addition to any general back-up procedures the program provides 'Back-up and Restore' options so that User profiles and/or individual Batches can be copied and saved. The 'Back-up and Restore' options can be a useful addition to the system back-up and are also useful for taking a snapshot of data prior to making changes or running experiments.

User profiles and Library folders can contain very large amounts of data that it would be difficult to re-create if they are lost.

At the main screen, select:-

 File - Back-up - Current user  (back-up a user profile)

or

Select the Toolbar icon (File Toolbar)

The alternative is to back up a batch of runs

 File - Back-up - Batch  (back-up a batch)

Notes

- The options to recover data are 'Restore' (recover to a new directory) and 'Retrieve' (recover to an existing directory).
