Basic parameter settings required for grain matching
For a step by step guide see topic: Grain matching - Walkthrough
Set up an information box for grain matching
Set up the predefined information box: Grain matching (Main screen - Parameters - Information boxes)
This is located in the 'Grain' branch of the Information box tree.
This box is used at the part list to enter the grain matching arrangement for each part that is grain matched.
Operation
Grain matching operates on the part list to set the correct sizes and items in the cutting list - the cutting list is typically generated automatically on optimising
Other parameters
Optimising parameter: Duplicate parts
This must be set to: Show in single patterns
Grain - part list
The gain setting for parts are;-
Grain runs along length
Grain runs along width
No grain
Grain setting of the master parts (if in use) is determined by the grain settings of the component parts. If the component parts are 'grain runs along length' or at least one component part is set to this value the master part is set in the same way.
If any of the component parts are set as 'grain runs along width' the master parts are set in the same way. Master parts cannot contain a mixture of 'no grain' and 'grain runs along width.
When all parts in a template are set to 'no grain' the grain is set by the master part/template properties.
