Information box parameter to store second cut size for each part
If this information box is set; the length and width of the second cut are stored in the information box.
A saw is typically used for a 'second cut' where parts are laminated. It does NOT apply to non-laminated or pre-laminated material.
The purpose of the second cut is remove any core and laminate material cut oversize to allow for the laminating process.
There are two different methods.
- If laminate is applied BEFORE edging (e.g. tape edging, laminate edge pieces) the second cut trims laminate (and any oversized core) prior to edging (second cut size = finished size - net thickness of edging). If a 'core trim' is set this is removed by the later edging process so the net thickness of the edging is the sum of the edging thickness minus any edge 'core trim'.
- If laminate is applied AFTER edging (e.g. after solid lipping) the second cut produces the finished size (second cut size = finished size).

left right Size
1000 mm - ( 3mm - 2mm) - ( 3mm - 2mm) + 10mm + 10mm = 1018mm (Laminate before edging)
1000 mm - (20mm - 5mm) - (20mm -5mm) + 0mm + 0mm = 970mm (Laminate after edging)
Second cut size
Finished Edge left Edge right Size
1000 mm - (3mm - 2mm) - (3mm - 2mm) = 998mm (Laminate before edging)
= 1000mm (Laminate after edging)
Notes
The program uses the following rules to determine whether a second cut is required or not.
No second cut is required if:-
- No edging is set for the part
- Only tape edging (type 1) is set for the part
- No core trim is set for the part (and there is no edging)
In these cases the second cut size information box is left blank.
- Transfer to CADmatic 3/4/5 saws - second cut pattern records. The program no longer outputs cutting pattern records relating to second cut operations (PSC2/PSC3 lines), since these are not required by the CADmatic controller.
