Information box to control how part drawings (machining instructions) are sent to a Machining centre
On transfer of data to a machining centre there is usually a drawing file for each part. For a large run this can mean that, for example, 50 or more drawings have to be transferred. However, a drawing for a part may already be at the machining centre from a previous run so some drawings may not need to be transferred.
Whether this box is set or not and the data in the box can be used to control the transfer process along with the setting of the Machining centre parameter: Use drawing number plus item number
Box not set up
If this box is NOT set up the name for the drawing file is created automatically and consists of the run number (5 characters) plus the item number in the part list (3 characters). This number is stored in the machining centre parameter: Last drawing number. e.g.
Run Part list item Drawing number
40002 135 40002135
40002 36 40002136
Box set but Blank
If this box is set up but the contents are blank the name for each drawing is set by the Machining centre parameter: Last drawing number (this generates a sequential number for each drawing). A star (*) is added to the end of each new drawing number to indicate that it was generated automatically. e.g.
Drawing number
32167
32168
32169
Box set and contains text
If this box is set up and contains text - this text is used for the name of the drawing file and a drawing file is NOT transferred.
Drawing number/name
PRDRAW-01
PTDR/02
PRDRAW-06
Notes
- When the Information box 'Drawing name - transfer' is set there is an alternative numbering method using the 'Last drawing number + the item number'; this is set by the Machining centre parameter: 'Use drawing number plus item number'.
- Drawing (machining) files are only created if this box is not set or there is a star (*) as the last and 9th character of the drawing name
- Set this box via (Main screen - Parameters - Information boxes)
- The drawing name transfer information box only has a value set during 'Recalculate runs' when there is an associated drawing (machining library or MPR(X) based) or the machining centre parameter: Create machining file for unmachined parts is set.
