Back

Machining option to place functions on the other side of the part

This is an option for most of the Machining functions such as Arc router, or Horizontal drill. It allows the instructions to be placed on the back of the part.

Check box to specify the back

In this example the instruction is on the Back of the part.

- All instructions on the back are shown as dotted lines

- The orientation of the back is the same as the front

- Enter instructions for the back as though the part has been flipped (right to left)

If Back is selected the ruler for the X direction swaps direction with 0 at the right. This helps to position the part correctly. This is only a convention but the operator must take care that the part is correctly positioned for the operation on the back.

There is no other information on the line denoting the back other than the function code and the optional description.

The back function also generates a pause instruction for the machining centre to allow the operator to flip the piece ready for the back operations. You do not need to add an extra Pause function for this.

Homag - The B function which indicates the back of a part and that the part has to be flipped generates the instruction for the Homag machining centre to release the vacuum pods as well as pausing, that is P1=1 in macro 066.
