Specify whether parts are machined before edging or after edging
Tick
the check box for machine before edging
In the example below the co-ordinates for machining the hole shown depend upon the method of edging.
If machining before edging the co-ordinates in the machine instruction need to be decreased by the width of the edging because the co-ordinates for the machine instructions in the machine drawings are usually based on the finished size.
The program automatically makes these adjustments.
Note - if machining after edging - end grooving or horizontal boring information on is not usually required for any edged sides, but this information is still transferred as there may be edges without edging material that require these operations.
Machine before edging on a part by part basis - set up an information box for this.
Notes
- When exporting existing MPR(X) files in the Path for library data to a machining centre, the following applies:-
- If this parameter is set or the information box 'Machine before edging' is set to True, then the cutting list sizes are used for the MPR(X) dimensions.
- If this parameterr is not set or the information box 'Machine before edging' is set to False, then the part list sizes are used for the MPR(X) dimensions.
- When using nested optimising this parameter is NOT used as Nested optimising automatically assumes 'Machine before edging'. This parameter only applies to individual part drawings (nested or non-nested)
