Set up for a group of Homag Sawtech saw controllers
31 - Single Homag Sawtech CH06/CH10/CH12 saw and NC-16 controller
32 - Single Homag Sawtech CH06 saw and NC-16 controller
Saw transfer parameters
Create or edit an entry in the Saw transfer parameter table (at the main screen: Parameters - Saw transfer parameters)
Name - any chosen name (e.g. SAWTECH)
Path - enter a folder (e.g. c:\SawData)
This is the directory where the data is stored waiting for transfer to the saw. The 'transfer program' is called automatically and this transfers the data from Path to the saw. This path must be different from the System parameter: Path for data
Create a file called: ESPTRANS.INF in the program directory (where the Optimising program is installed). Use a text editor or 'non-document' mode in a word processor for this. This file describes the controller and the command that is required to run the saw software, for example:-
CONTROLLER=0
COMMANDLINE=HOSTV2.EXE -s<filename>
Enter the first line as it is shown but make sure to enter the correct number for the controller.
0 - Pure controller
1 - Combo controller
Enter the second line exactly as it is shown, unless informed otherwise by the supplier
If the ESPTRANS.INF file does not exist an error is reported.
To use a different transfer program, for example, a batch file, instead of the supplier's transfer program enter the alternative program name in the Saw transfer parameter: Program name. ESPTRANS.INF is not required.
Saw model: 7 - Homag Sawtech [Espana]
At the right hand side of the row are a set of extra parameters to set.
On transfer to the saw the previous contents of the transfer directories (path for saw data) are deleted prior to transfer and only new files are transferred. To avoid this use Buffered transfer. For transfer to the saw by floppy or serial link do NOT check this parameter. For a direct link to the saw (network connection) set Buffered transfer.
Saw parameters
Create or adjust a set of saw parameters with the following values:-
- Set all the values for the saw parameters for: Clamp positions to zero
- Set the 'Saw model number' to one of those shown above (31/32)
System parameters
- Check the settings in System parameters and ensure that data is created for cutting dimensions and other items such as offcuts and part drawings (if required).
Notes
Transfer to saw - The optimising program calculates cutting dimensions and places the results in file: 'run_number.cut', for example: 00032.CUT. On Transfer to saw the program converts the information in the .CUT file to the correct format for the Homag Sawtech saw and copies this to a series of files; one file for each pattern. The filename is created as 'P1number', for example: P1001, P1002 ..... The number increases for each pattern in the batch, regardless of the number of runs in the batch. This number is called the 'cutting plan number'. The text 'P1' is fixed. The 'transfer to saw' process runs the 'transfer program' which transfers the cutting dimensions from the 'P1number' based files in the 'Path for saw data' to the saw itself.
Waste - If the saw model is set to '31' patterns are shown with waste moved to the rear of each strip or block. In pattern amendment waste is still shown at the front of each strip or block.
Waste at Rear - For the Homag Sawtech CH06/CH10 saw waste is NOT moved to the rear of the board.
CH04 saw - The cutting dimensions for this saw exclude trims which are fixed and are taken manually by the saw operator. Function codes are identical to saw model 31 with the exception that they are always given in the order rear-to-front and left-to-right.
