External images

Drawings and pictures are used in the Part library, Product library, Board library, label printing and form and label design.

Several different sorts of picture file are supported.

Drawing from Machining library (parts)

Drawing from Drawing library (products, layouts etc.)

External bitmaps in BMP, WMF, EMF, JPG

For label printing with products or parts set the program to use pictures based on the part name or product name so that you can have a different picture for each part or product on the label. This picture has the same name (or file name if it is an external picture) as the product or part code.

Aspect ratio - the aspect ratio of picture is the ratio between the height and width and it is usually set when the picture is created. If the ratio changes the picture can look stretched in one or other direction.

For pictures for products and parts and any pictures from the drawing or machining library the program retains the aspect ratio of the picture when the picture is displayed or printed. This means that the proportions of the picture are the same as when it was created even if the picture is fitted into a smaller or larger space. This is useful for parts and products where the proportions affect the look of the item.

For fixed external pictures (e.g. those used for headings or logos) the ratio is not maintained and the picture is fitted exactly into the space available for printing or viewing.

- Per part or Per product pictures - ratio maintained

- Fixed pictures - ratio can vary

Raster layer - bitmaps with a format called 'Raster layer' are not supported.

Online label PC - A label design can be created containing a fixed picture or a per item image. This image can be either a BMP,WMF, EMF or JPG/JPEG file.

External images are stored in the 'Path for data' or in the 'Path for pictures' (system parameters)
