Second cut after laminating - Homag Sawtech

 

For Homag Sawtech NPS400V3 and Ilenia saw controllers (saw model 34)

 

The second cut  removes the 'core trim' values specified by edging codes in the edging library.

 

Operation

 

During transfer to saw, every unique part which requires a second cut is allocated a new program for this purpose. These additional programs appear at the end of the programs for the run.

 

A part's second cut program number is transferred as part of the label data for the saw (in the field normally reserved for the information box 'Pattern for master part'). This field can be added to a cutting pattern label design and printed at the saw when the first cuts are taken. It enables the operator to locate the correct program to take the second cut.

 

It is important that the second cut programs can be accommodated in the same run as those for the first cut.

 

If the 'Max saw limits'  for patterns (saw parameters) is set to a lower value than the default and the second cut programs would exceed this limit, the run cannot be transferred and the following error message is produced:- Action not successful - too much data.

 

Programs are denoted as 'second cut' in the comment field of the job list and in the remark field of the program itself. See example for further detail.

 

Setup required for second cut patterns

 

Information boxes:

 

- Second cut sizes (in the 'Part sizes' section)

- Pattern for master part (in the 'Grain' section)

 

Saw parameters:

 

- Saw model: 34

- Label data for saw: Per piece / per stack

 

Label design:

 

The label design for saw should include 'Pattern for master part'.

 

Example

 

A run (00005) contains 20 patterns. Item 15 on pattern 1 is edged prior to laminating with solid lipping edges to all four sides. The lipping is 18mm thick and after laminating, a core trim of 10mm is required on each side to ensure a square edge.
