Max open parts

Optimising parameter to control the number of parts (or pallets) that are open at any time when destacking

If the number of destacking stations is limited set this number to the maximum number of stations available.

1-98              - limit on open parts

99 or unlimited   - no restriction on open parts

Only set this parameter if there is a strict limit on the maximum number of open parts. A strict limit is usually only necessary for automatic destacking machinery or where space around the saw is very restricted.

The program always attempts to keep the number of open parts to a minimum regardless of the maximum value. A setting of unlimited (99) does not usually produce a large number of open parts. In most runs with medium or large quantities the number of open parts is usually less than 10 and often much less than this. The number of open parts is usually only large for runs which require small and exact quantities.

The number of open parts is calculated as the number of parts open at the end of the previous pattern plus the number of new parts opened on the current pattern. Cut the patterns in pattern number order to maintain the numbers of open parts.

If a restriction is set with this parameter the number of different board types (sizes with the same material code) excluding offcuts must be 3 or less.

If there are more than 3 board sizes set the Optimising parameter: Override board loading sequence to control open parts.

Note - this limit on open parts applies for multi-cycle patterns and can be exceeded for single cycle patterns by setting the parameter: Extra open parts for single cycle pattern
