Board library database - Overview

Technical details for the Board library

Experienced Access Users only

The Board library is an Access Database in Access 2000 format so it is possible for users with Access to use the Database to obtain extra reports and to export selected data from the Database.

In some cases it may also be useful to use Access to update the database - for example for a batch update of Material or Board costs.

When working with the Board library it is best to work via a Front End database.

Do not use the current Board library database directly

A Front-End database is another database which attaches to the Board library database by linking to the Board library database tables. Store any reports and queries in the Front-End database.

When creating any reports or analyses (even with a Front End database) make sure that all Board library data is backed up so that the Library can be restored if problems arise. Make sure that any reports and analyses etc. are fully tested before using with the live database.

Notes

- For some earlier version the Board Library tables and structures are protected and cannot be changed but the data in the tables is available
