Nesting parameter to set the minimum distance between parts
This value is used to specify the minimum space around each part when a nested pattern is cut on a router or machining centre.
For example, If the parameter value is 15mm (5/8in) there must be at least a space of 15mm (5/8in) around each part. This value is overridden for parts which have a safety contour defined.
- Enter a value
The range is: 0-9999.9mm (0-999.9in); typical values are: 15mm (0.625in).
Rectangular nesting - this value is used for the safety distance
Shaped nesting - this value is used to create a default safety border if the safety border is not set in the part drawing.
This value can be overridden by Material parameter settings. This can only be used in Material parameters set at Material level (not at Board sizes or in the Board list).
Notes
- Can also be set as a material parameter at both board and material level
- It is sometimes useful to allow optimising where the Nesting template value for 'minimum part separation' is different to the value specified in the nesting parameters, for example to allow some parts to be closer together. In this case the program prompts with a warning before optimising. 'Minimum part separation conflict'.
