Restore - select paths

Choose where data is restored to

When restoring data for a current user or a batch the program copies all the data to a NEW set of directories. These have the same name as the original directories but have the text 'Copy' appended to the name. For example, c:\V12\Demo\User 1 - Copy\. This avoids accidentally overwriting existing data.

This dialog shows the folders in the selected Back up (User profile, Path for library data etc.). In some cases it is useful to not restore all the paths or restore some paths to a different location. For example, if it is a recent restore then it may not be necessary to restore the library data.

Select the check box in the Set column to restore a folder

For each folder enter the path to restore the folder to in the Value column.

Where paths are the same in the back-up they are linked together in Restore screen, for example, clicking on User Profile selects all those paths that are the same as the User profile folder.

 OK to confirm the restore

When a restore of a user profile has completed successfully a dialog is displayed:-

Notes

- Where an option is ticked but greyed out the folder is the same as or is a sub-directory of the User directory and a path does not need to be entered.

- Where files exist in a restore path the program prompts to Back-up the existing data in the path before continuing with Restore.

- Where library or other data is shared it is best to NOT restore over existing data as this may affect other users.

- The program cannot restore over a user directory opened by another user. In this case an error is shown and the restore does NOT proceed.

- The default path is the original source path from the back up file provided this path does not already exist. If the path already exists then a '- copy' path is generated.

- After a restore the quote / orders number may need to be restored. The program prompts for this (if required) when Quote is next used.

- If additional MPR files have been included in the back up then the program will have to be in "Administrator mode" for these files to be restored.
