Organise the system for importing parts, boards, requirements or patterns
There are several parameters which control how data is imported. The parameters for parts, boards, requirements and patterns are all on the same dialog and so can be easily set.
- Check the parameters for each type of import required
The parameters are only available on the 'Import dialog' which is the dialog shown when choosing the File menu options at the main screen.
File - Import parts
File - Import boards
File - Import requirements
File - Import patterns
If the option 'File - Import parts' is chosen the parameters available on the dialog are those related to importing parts and so on.
These options are also available on the 'Shortcut bar' at the main screen and can be included on the 'File' toolbar (Main screen - View menu - Modify toolbars)
User defined formats
It is also possible to create parameter lists to describe the format of the imported file (this gives more flexibility in the use of external files). There are separate parameters lists for describing the format for Part lists, Board lists and Product requirement lists.
It is also possible to import from files in the PTX format; this is a standard format file that can include information on part lists, board lists and patterns.
To use a user defined format for import (for parts, boards or requirements) set up the 'Import parameters'; these are accessed from the main screen:-
File - Parameters - Part list import parameters
File - Parameters - Board list import parameters
File - Parameters - Requirements import parameters
Create one or more files to describe the formats. The name of the import list parameters can then be set or selected at the File - Parameters option at the Import parameters dialog.
Notes
- Length of file name - Typically only file names with 50 characters or less can be used for Import. For pattern exchange import this restriction does not apply, provided that, the job names(s) are 50 characters or less.
- The import operates in the same way of all these types of data.
- Boards cannot be imported to the Board library with these options - this can only be done via the Stock control module
