Use set variables for MPR(X) dimensions

Routing / Nesting system parameter to use variables for part sizes

mct2011-01.gif

The part sizes (length, width, thickness) for MPR(X) files can be based on variables (e.g. L, B, D). Set this parameter to use variables.

- Check the box to use variables for dimensions

tickbox9.gif Use set variables for MPR(X) dimensions

The default names are L, B, D but once this box is checked the variable names used in the MPR(X) files can be entered in the boxes below if the variable names are different from this.

Notes

Typically MPR(X) files used variable names for the part dimensions. L, B, D is a common default. But any other variables names may be used. Usually each separate MPR(X) uses the same variable name for each dimension. If variables are used for part dimensions this affects how part sizes are stored and created in the following cases.

Import parts - MPR(X) variables

For a part based on an MPR(X) file the variables for the dimensions are stored in the part list and are used to define the part - if this parameter is set.

For import in a non user defined order.

If the part is MPR(X) based the variables that specify the MPR(X) length and width are stored in the part list file and are displayed in the drawing dialog in the part list.

If this parameter is set to No, the dimensions are taken from the MPR(X) drawing and any dimensions in the import file are ignored.

All imported part files have the same drawing source as set as the part list default drawing source

Product explosion

When a product is expanded to create the parts relating to the product the part sizes are placed in the part list as MPR(X) variables - if this parameter is set.

For a drawing source of 'Part library' and MPR(X) based parts

Part list

The part library dimensions for a part are also set in the part list as MPR(X) variables - if this parameter is set.

Notes

- If this parameter is set the system parameter: Dimension names (MPR(X)) must also be set.

MPR(X) based part

An MPR(X) based part is one of the following:-

part list drawing source is MPR(X) and there is an associated MPR(X) drawing

part list drawing source is MPR(X) and there is no associated MPR(X) drawing, but there is a part template defined.

part list drawing source is part library and the part is associated with an MPR(X) drawing.

Part templates

If the nesting parameter part templates is setup it must be based on the same variable dimensions as the  parts in the part list that use it. This enables the software to resize the part template to match the part dimensions.
