Set up for running with a second or multiple monitors
The program can be used with a second or multiple monitors.
To do this the extra monitors and suitable software to operate the computer in this way must be installed
To start the program on a second monitor drag the Optimising program shortcut to that monitor and start the program by double-clicking on it.
The main menu is maximised on the new monitor and options launched from the main menu are centred on (and sized for) the new monitor.
Staring the program from the Start menu or from a command prompt reverts to using the primary monitor.
Notes
- Some dialogs store the last known position to aid future use (for example User directories dialog). If the previous position of the dialog was on a different monitor, it re-appears in the same place even when the main menu moves to a new monitor. Re-position the dialog, if required, to ensure it appears in the correct location.
- Properties dialogs (for example) can be placed on a different monitor so that they do not obscure the main display
- If a monitor has been disabled in the display settings dialogs appear on the current monitor. This does not apply if a monitor is switched off.
- The startup (splash) screen always displays on the primary monitor.
- The help window initially appears on the primary monitor but subsequently remembers the last position.
- Some 'Advanced' (sometimes called 'Multiview') multiple monitor software drivers have options which make two monitors appear as one large monitor. Such software may also have features which can force windows to open on a specific monitor. Using these modes may cause unexpected operation, such as, windows split between the two monitors or windows appearing on a different monitor to that which displays the main menu. To take advantage multiple monitor features with this program use only standard display modes (also called 'Dual View')
