Box to set the orientation of a part on leaving the crosscut saw
Sets how parts are arranged as they leave the crosscut saw.
1 - lengthways
2 - widthways
- Enter a value
Lengthways - the part is oriented so the length is aligned with the outfeed direction
Widthways - the part is oriented so the width is aligned with the outfeed direction
This information box applies for any saw but typically is used for Angular systems. For example, a large part may be restricted in orientation on the pattern so that it can be cut the cross cut saw.
In the above example the part must be oriented 'widthways' in the pattern so that it emerges 'lengthways' at the cross cut saw to be processed. In the other orientation the part is too long to be cut at the cross cut saw.
Notes
- This box is in the 'Part' section of the information boxes list
- Part orientation can also be set via the part grain and there may be a conflict between the outfeed direction set and the part grain setting. In this case the part cannot be optimised and an error is reported.
- This box is set up via the 'Information box' parameters
- 'Length' and 'Width' is determined by how the parts are entered in the Part list, that is, 'length' is not always the longest side.
