Tool sequencing explained

Illustration of how tool sequence parameters are used

In the above diagram the tool number or the internal symbol (e.g. V for vertical drilling) for the operation is shown. Each machining instruction such as a drill or rout is indicated by a small square.

The tool sequence parameters are set as follows:-

102.1

V5,V8

V10,103

102.2

Where a tooling number is not specified the program uses the following rules.

Vertical drilling is grouped via drill dimension

Horizontal drilling is grouped via the drill dimension

Saw routs and grooves are grouped by the router width

Use the following symbols to stand for drilling and routing operations that do not have tooling numbers.

V - Vertical drill

H - Horizontal drill

S - saw groove or rout

The optimisation follows the sequence set by the tool sequence parameters. For instructions at the same priority the tool path is minimised within a part..

Notes

- The above example only gives an approximate idea of the tool optimisation
