Outfeed

Saw parameter to set the method of working for angular saws

mct2157-01.gif

Applies to Saw model 22 and 25

When an angular saw (without a turntable) is operated automatically the division of the head is generally limited to checkerboard cutting and the program produces checkerboard head cut patterns and large offcuts in the head may be divided.

Where there is manual operation a staggered head or a checkerboard head with large offcut area (shaded area above) can be cut by transferring the board to the crosscut saw and taking cuts there. The offcut can be removed manually and the head strips passed back through the cross cut saw to be cut.

Use this parameter to set how the saw is used and which type of patterns are generated.

Select the option from the list.

Automatic outfeed

Manual outfeed

The following is a typical pattern affected by this parameter. This shows the effect of selecting 'Manual outfeed'.

Notes

- The program generally favours checkerboard heads for this type of saw but takes account of the setting of this parameter. For a manual outfeed offcuts are preserved in the head and the pattern is cut as a staggered head.

- Other factors such as recuts can also lead to a staggered cutting pattern.

Homag/Holzma Saw model 25 (Angular with turntable) - processing of staggered head patterns.

This saw is intended to deal with single block patterns or patterns with checkerboard / null heads. In these situations, strips produced by the rip saw are divided at the crosscut saw, resulting in maximum throughput.

If the saw has a manual outfeed at the crosscut saw, it is also possible to process patterns with staggered heads. In this case, the staggered heads are separated at the rip saw and are further divided at the crosscut saw manually (as if it were a single saw).

If Outfeed is set to 'Manual', the program also assumes that checkerboard heads may be cut as staggered if this preserves an offcut (below the parts) which would otherwise be divided by checkerboard cutting.
