Border to contour (Contour to border)

Machining edit option to change borders and contours

It is sometimes useful to be able to change a border to a contour or vice versa. For example, when importing a drawing from a DXF file a border may be imported as a contour because the border is not closed.

To do this, at the Machining library drawing:-

- Select the item to convert (e.g. a border)

- Select: Edit - Border to contour

These options are available when the instruction is either the contour/border or a groove/arc rout within a contour or border.

A border defines the outline of a part (usually for shaped or cut out parts) so these operations are typically required when a drawing instruction is entered by mistake or not imported correctly.

Notes

- Any border can be converted to a contour

- Only some contours can be converted into a border

The following rules apply for 'contour to border'.

- contour is not a safety contour or a free form pocket

- contour only contains 1 pass

When converting a contour to a border - the contour x/y offset is lost and all the routs in a contour are selected for the border (e.g. start and end element changes to 1 and 999 respectively) and the depth is set to =Z)
