Vertical strips only

Optimising parameter to ensure head cut patterns are cut as checkerboard only (Rules tab)

To ensure any head cut patterns are checkerboard only - check this parameter.

- Where the optimising parameter 'Vertical strips only' is set the 'Max unique parts per strip' value applies to the head strips running in the width direction, that is, as strips across the head portions of the board.

Recuts in vertical strips

The optimising parameter: Recuts - Head is used to set the level of recuts allowed in the head.

For 'Vertical strips' in the head - only single recuts are allowed.

Notes

- Can also be set as a Material parameter

- Only 1 head cut is allowed

- Recuts in vertical strips obey the recut trim and recut processing parameters and are sorted to the 'top' of the strip.

- The method is available for CADmatic 3 (recursive), CADmatic 4/5, and Online Label PC, saw transfer methods; an error is reported if other saw transfer methods are used with 'Vertical strips only'.

- Angular saws with automatic out-feed are able to process this type of pattern: a manual out-feed is required for a traditional staggered head pattern.

- When a head cut is added to a single block pattern in the pattern editor the program observes the setting of the optimising parameter to decide if the strips in the head are vertical.

Saw models

The following saw models support vertical strip heads:-

21 Single saw (Homag/Holzma CADmatic)

22 Angular Homag/Holzma CADmatic

25 Angular Homag/Holzma CADmatic (with turntable at rip)

91 Homag/Weeke cutting centre

Runs containing patterns with vertical strip heads may only be transferred to:-

- Online PC

- Cadmatic 3 (recursive) / CADmatic 4/5

- Homag/Weeke Cutting Centre

- PTX (saw models: 21, 22 & 25 only)

Cutting time simulation

- For saw model 25 (angular with turntable at rip), the vertical head strips are separated at the rip saw and transferred to the crosscut saw for further division. In some cases, the ripping operation was duplicated on the crosscut saw timeline.

- For Angular saw models 22 & 25 the separation of Vertical strips is labelled as 'Rip head set' at the rip saw and 'Crosscut head set' at the crosscut saw.
