Options at the product library to import or export data
At the product library screen on the file menu there are options to import or export product data.
Import single product
Import product library
Export single product
Export product library
Import single product
At the Product library screen:-
● Select: File - import single product
The program prompts with a list of import files (.PLE)
- Select the file to import
(The program prompts if any data is going to be overwritten)
The import creates the product and any parts / formulae / variables / lookups.
If a part / formula / variable or lookup does already exist and it is different to the export version, then the export version will not be imported, instead a dialog at the end of the import will list all the items that will need checking.
No drawings are exported or imported, but at the end of the import the dialog shows the list of drawings that were not included in the export / import. This is a list of drawing library and machining library drawings.
Import Product library
This option imports an MDB file and creates the following libraries/tables:
Product library
Part library
Variable table
Lookup table
Formula table
The structure of the MDB file must match the specification for the library otherwise errors are reported.
● Select: File - Import Product library
The program prompts before starting the import.
- Make sure there are no other users accessing these libraries / files before continuing with the import.
- Any errors in fields are reported at the end of the import.
Export single product
● Move to the product
● Select: File - Export product
● Select OK to finish
The product data is stored in a .PLE file with the same name as the product code, for example:- BASE-DOUBLE.PLE
The files are exported to the 'Path for export data'.
If the exported single product has a 3D design it will be included in the export.
Note - The product library import/export does not import machining drawings or material library information
Export Product library
At the product library screen,
● Select: File - Export Product library
The entire library is exported. The file name is based on the date and time. It is an Access MDB file located in the 'Path for export data'. e.g. Product library 2015-11-20 1135.mdb
In the variable / formulae and lookup tables the codes must all be unique. If any duplicates code are found an error is reported and the export does not continue.
