Transfer to Homag/Weeke cutting centre
Saw Model 91
This value is used for transfer of saw data to a Homag/Weeke Cutting centre.
The Cutting Centre has two spindles; one spindle for rip cuts and one spindle for cross cuts and each spindle can have different router diameters.
The Rips are taken via the Ripping spindle with the board on the bed of the machine. The crosscuts are taken at the cross cut spindle by moving the strip under the crosscutting spindle.
As a consequence of this extra rules apply to the layout of optimised patterns to ensure they can be cut on the machine.
- The Cutting centre saw model is only available to users with the PO module.
- When optimising with the Cutting centre saw model patterns are produced with vertical head strips only regardless of the setting of the optimising parameter "Heads - Vertical strips only". Heads are turned before processing so the rip cut width' is applied in the vertical direction in the head and the crosscut cut width is applied in the horizontal direction in the head. Also, each head consists of single part strips along the length of the board.
- Cutting centre optimisations sort recut parts to the left of strips in the main and the bottom of vertical head strips.
- Cutting centre optimisations sort patterns so that strips without recuts are at the bottom of the main and vertical head strips without a recut are on the right hand side. This means that a larger front trim is not required for clamping.
- Cutting centre optimisations allow for a single head retrim (if set) only between the main and the vertical head strip block i.e. only one head retrim
- When an offcut occurs in at the front of a strip, this may be sorted towards the centre of the strip when processed on the Cutting centre. Therefore when data is transferred to the saw the size of offcuts is adjusted so that there is sufficient waste to apply a crosscut trim at the front of the strip.
- It is recommended that the optimising parameter 'Always preserve offcut orientation' (Offcuts page) is set to avoid aggregating identically sized offcuts which have different orientations in patterns.
- There is a separate 'Saw transfer mode' (saw transfer parameters) for the Homag/Weeke Cutting centre.
To set up the program for the Homag/Weeke Cutting centre the following saw parameters need to be considered (Cutting 2 tab).
Front trim - This is the increased front trim which must be applied if the front strip contains a recut - a larger front trim is required in order to clamp the strip. The larger trim is applied to the bottom of the main block and to the right of the block of vertical head strips. If there is insufficient space to accommodate the larger front trim an error is shown.
Max length of head piece - This is the maximum length of the block of vertical strips - that is, the length of the board less the length of the main section.
Manual offcuts - Max length & Max width - Smaller offcuts are stored in a 'manual' area controlled by Homag Automation. These parameters define the maximum size of offcuts stored in this area.
Automatic offcuts - Min length & Min width - Larger offcuts are stored in an 'automatic' area are subject to a minimum size (but no maximum) defined by these parameters.
If an offcut is too small for the automatic area but too large for the manual area it is cut down (in both directions if necessary) so that the resulting offcuts can be stored in the manual area.
