Details on how the part description field is imported
Import part lists - DXF paths/files
Where an external file (such as a CSV format file) is imported an important field is the Part code/Description. Typically this is a code or short description of each part e.g. TOP1.
However, this field, in the external file, can contain a full path and file name, for example:- c:\data\dxfitems\Top1.dxf. This means the part description is 'Top1' and it has an associated DXF file top1.dxf and the dxf file is located in a specific external directory.
The import process recognises this layout as a path and converts the part description to 'Top1' and locates the external dxf file and copies it to the 'Path for import data' under the name 'Top1.dxf'.
In this way an external arrangement of part lists and DXF files is converted to the arrangement required by the optimising program.
Notes
- In this case the part description in the external file may be much longer than the limit for the part description field in the optimising program
- If the dxf files cannot be found an error is reported
- If the external 'part description' field cannot be interpreted it is imported without change
- As the DXF file for each part is copied into the path for import, the parts must have unique DXF filenames, and any DXF files in the path for import of the same name are overwritten.
- This feature is only applicable to the following part list import formats:
Part list order - ASCII/Unicode CSV (PNX)
Code and quantity - ASCII/Unicode CSV (PNX)
Batch - Part list order (BTX & PNX)
Batch - code and quantity (BTX & PNX)
