Nesting - splitting offcuts

Nesting parameters (Offcuts) - How ‘Maximum offcut width’ is applied

Typically the Nesting parameter ‘Maximum offcut width’ sets the upper limit on the size of an offcut. This parameter is located on the Offcuts tab of the Nesting parameters.

There are cases where the overall waste area is quite large and two or more offcuts of maximum width could be fitted into the area. In these cases the program fits in as many offcuts as possible.

In the following example there is space for more than one offcut of maximum width.

- This rule does NOT apply to the Maximum length of an offcut.

- Splitting only works when the Offcut direction parameter is set to 'Either direction'.

Notes

- When creating offcuts the program attempts to work out the best fit into the waste area. This means that offcuts do not always take up the full length or width but may be split to a better fit.
