Transfer machining drawings - Notes

How to control the transfer of machining drawings

For each part in a part list there may also be an associated part drawing with the machining details.

In some cases some or all of the part drawings are used for later runs so there is no need to transfer the drawing again. The program automatically determines whether a part drawing file needs to be transferred by checking the Information box: Drawing name (transfer) for each part.

In simple terms (there are some other rules) if the information box contains a file name the drawing does not need to be transferred to the machining centre.

Rules for Drawing name (transfer) Information box

- If the box is blank the program creates a drawing file for the part and transfers it to the machining centre. In this case the drawing file is automatically named: run-number plus item-number e.g. 00022001.

- An asterisk (*) is included as the 9th character to indicate that the number was automatically created. The number plus the star is written back to the information box and so is available for printing on the part label and/or a bar code. e.g. 00022001*

- If the box contains a file name only (without a * as the 9th character) the program creates a drawing file (for viewing) but does not transfer a file to the machining centre.

- The automatic numbering can be further controlled by the Machining centre parameter: Use drawing number plus item number

Autolink format (Busellato) only

To process a batch of DXF files automatically an ASCII file called BATCH.LST is created and sent to the path for machine data (that is the path for the DXF files). For example:-

00123001

00123002

00123003

The path name and suffix are NOT included

Full part drawings (for nested runs)

- If the 'drawing name - transfer' information box is set and a nested run is transferred the file names are 'information box text' minus the last character. e.g. if the last drawing number was 25, the drawing name transfer information box holds 0000025F, but the file name created is 0000025 (without the F character).

This allows for the creation of a full part drawing and individual front, horizontal and back files each with a unique filename.

Horizontal part drawings

- If horizontal files are required and the 'drawing name - transfer' information box is NOT set the file name is based on the pattern file name and a 3 digit part number.

This file name is:-

'everything but the first character of the pattern filename, the 3 digit part number, the character H'

e.g. Pattern file name is 00127, part number is 33 the file name is:  0127033H
