Question. Where can I find out more about optimising?
Answer. If you are interested in the technical details then many Computer Science or Operational Research books discuss the basic theory of optimisation. Look for the sections on Combinatorial Optimisation, Computability Theory, and NP-Complete problems. The cutting problem is called by several names; 2D cutting, bin packing, and the trim loss problem.
If you want to do trials with the optimiser using your own data please contact your local supplier who will arrange this. It is best to do a trial for several sets of data as this gives a more realistic picture of the improvements you may achieve in the long term.
