Part list option to join any duplicate sizes into a single entry in the list
Warning - cannot be undone - take a copy of the part list before using this option
A duplicate size exists when two or more parts have exactly the same length, width, material, and grain but, for example, the part description is different. A typical example occurs in the production of doors; where a left and right door are duplicates but need to be identified and labelled separately.
The program normally keeps all duplicate sizes separate (although they are temporarily combined when optimising to achieve better results). This option allows the normal operation of duplicates to be Overridden and to combine all duplicate sizes into a single part type. This can be useful if, for example, the duplicate sizes arose by accident or because the list was entered from a number of different sources each of which contained repetitions of the same part.
The duplicates are aggregated into a single part type and the list is redisplayed. The aggregated part is marked with an asterisk (*) symbol in the description box to indicate the merge.
Notes
- The definition of a duplicate part is set by the Part list parameter: Fields for defining duplicate parts
- Plus parts and parts assigned to different pallet groups are not combined
