Product width(X), height(Y), depth(Z)

Use these fields to define the overall dimensions of the product. Each field has a character associated with it XYZ which defines the three axes of the product.

X - product width

Y - product height

Z - product depth

Different users have different conventions for the order of the product dimensions, for example, Width, Depth, Height is common in the UK, but Depth, Width, Height is used elsewhere. Choose the order with the system parameter:

Order of dimensions for products

Default product dimensions and formula - Enter default dimensions when defining a custom (variable) product. To do this enter (at the PRODUCT DETAILS screen) the default dimension in the usual width, depth and height fields and select the DEF box to set the value as default.

Product

Code          PR/A123

Description   Medium wall unit

X Width       500.0

Y Height      750.0

Z Depth       350.0

These default dimensions are available in Product requirements, Order processing, and CAD. For example, at the Product requirements screen the default values are automatically inserted and can be edited in the same way as a blank entry.

The product dimension can also be entered as a formula  - select the FX button to identify the box as a formula. If the FX button is not set the entry is taken as a fixed number (or a default value if the DEF button is set).

The symbol = is automatically inserted in front of the formula and can also be typed.

Take care when entering a formula or numbers in fractional inches mode

25-1/2      a number with value 25.5

=25-1/2     a formula with value 24.5

=F(25-1/2)  a formula with value of 25.5
