Information at the Part library screen
The part library screen shows one part at a time.
At top left are the basic part details (description, length, width etc) and to the right am (optional) part drawing. The part drawing is often used where the part contains machining.
New part
Use the navigation buttons to move between items
To move to an existing item.
Click on the Code box
and
Click
on the list button at the 'Code' field to select existing items
Use the TYPE box to define whether an item is a part, fitting or operation. The basic data to enter is the same as for the Part list:-
Part code
Material
Description
Length
Width
Grain
The 'Part code' is the item that is used for the Code / Description in the Part list and the Description field in the Part library is an extra description.
@, fx, $ - One of the uses of the Part library is to set up custom parts where some of the fields are defined by formula or variables. Select these options to set whether an items is a variable or a formula.
At the foot of the screen are the custom fields defined for parts by the Information box parameters.
Notes
When entering any formula in the length and width boxes these can sometimes look the same as a measurement, for example, the expression 9-1/4 can be seen as a formula or a measurement in fractional inches. To avoid this confusion use the radio buttons labelled (fx) to indicate a formula. When the button is selected the box contains a formula. Note that you must use this button for every formula in these boxes even where it may obvious that a formula is intended.
