Details on Answer table operation
If using Answer tables with Product requirements or Orders the program follows some rules about how the merge of variables occurs.
This is information is not needed for everyday use but it may be useful to check these rules when working out the structure of a new custom or variable product since they may determine how the product definition is set up in a few cases.
- If a Product memo field is set for an Answer table the table is merged in when the product is loaded into Orders or Product requirements. This merge is not repeated when moving back to that product line so it is safe to make any changes to the answers and they will not be overwritten.
- The measurement mode of the Answer table must match that of the current System parameter setting.
- The Answer table - like the Variables table - can contain both Global. and Non-global variables.
- The variables are always checked in the usual way and errors reported, regardless of whether they have come from an answer table or not. It will report any conflicts between the variables.
- The order in which variables are looked for is as follows.
Variable table default
