There is a direct link between the Saw and the PC in the office which is controlled by a special communications program called 'Saw queue' (program name: 'sawq'). This program runs all the time at the Office PC and regularly checks the serial port for a request from the saw for information. The request from the saw occurs when the operator presses a button at the saw to get the next set of saw data for cutting. The saw data is kept at the office computer in the 'saw queue'. This is a queue of jobs waiting to be sent to the saw. Data is added to the saw queue when you optimise and choose 'Transfer to saw'; this transfers the cutting instructions to the saw queue.

At the main screen:-

 Select: Machine Interface

Select the menu option for the transfer

 Select Transfer to Saw

The program displays the batch screen showing the runs to be transferred

 Select OK to continue

Notes

- All runs in the batch must have the same saw model number.

Transfer process

Each group is transferred in turn to the 'Saw Queue'. The group is stored on disk in the directory that you have set up for the saw data under a unique Group number (for example, '00123') which is generated by the program. The Group number is determined from system parameter: 'Last saw group number'. The groups are numbered consecutively, for example:-

00123

00124

00125

Once these Groups are stored in the 'Saw Queue' the operator at the Saw can load a group by requesting the group number.

If an error occurs or you have forgotten whether you transferred the groups or not you can always transfer the groups again, provided that you remain at this screen, because the numbers are not updated until you exit from this option. The groups are overwritten using the same Group numbers if you transfer more than once.
