Cloud licence - Different users on the same PC

Allowing different users of a PC to share a cloud licence

Different users of the same physical PC may use the cloud licence which has been allocated to the PC by logging in to a different user account.

Only one instance of the program can run on the PC at any one time.

You must exit from the program prior to switching between users, otherwise the program displays an error message on start up. An example is shown below.

You must also ensure that no standalone operations are left running prior to switching between users. For example, if a standalone optimisation is left running when switching between users this may fail to complete properly.

When switching between users on the same PC, it is very important that all users have the same date and time settings. If the date or time for one is ahead of the others this will invalidate the licence for other users. The System check tool will show diagnostic 103 in this case.

Note that the user listed against a seat (System check, CloudSeats) is the user who logged in, not necessarily the user currently using that licence. The PC Computer Name identifies the computer where the licence is installed.

Upgrading from previous versions of V12 (prior to V12.00.4)

If you have used cloud licencing on a computer prior to V12.00.4 and wish to allow different users of the PC to run the program with a cloud licence, you will need to modify the cloud licence mode to achieve this. You must log out of cloud licencing (floating licence) or release the licence (single PC licence) first. You will no longer be able to use versions of V12 which are earlier than V12.00.4 on this PC.

To change the cloud licence mode, run the 'ChangeCloudMode' utility in the program folder by double-clicking on it. Example output is shown below (messages appear in English).
