Checks full list of program files and associated files

 

 

At the System Check screen:-

 

 Select: the Verify files tab

 

The program prompts for the directory name where the program is installed, for example: c:\v12. If necessary use the browser to locate the directory.

 

 

OK to begin verify

 

A list of all the files for the program is displayed.

 

 

The list shows:-

 

File name

Status

File version number

Details

Size

Date Modified

 

The status values are:-

 

OK   - file is OK

*    - updated file (OK)

X    - file is corrupt, wrong version or has invalid digital signature

XX   - file cannot be loaded

XXX  - file is missing

 

 

Other Options

 

Print - print files list

 

Export - send files list to a file

 

The program prompts for the file name. The default name is based on the date and time (for example, 2015-01-29 1136 Verify files.txt).

- The list above is an example and the files and Version number shown may not match the current version

 

Further details about files

 

With the Windows explorer move to the Program directory. Right click with the mouse on a file to see the file information.

There are several items of information some of which are set by the operating system. The important ones for checking the file are: Product Version, Internal name, Original file name, and Private build description, for example:-

 

Product Version           Vn.nn

Internal name             PARAMS

Original file name        PARAMS.EXE

Private build description 1196424000

 

XX - this may apply to the dynamic link libraries (DLL extension) required by the program. The library file cannot be loaded because it is possibly corrupted. Check with the supplier. Try un-installing and re-installing the program.
